How To Find Your Dream Egg Donor: A Step-By-Step Guide

Parenthood is a dream cherished by many, but for some, the journey towards parenthood can come with some unexpected challenges. For couples or individuals that are struggling with infertility or genetic conditions affecting fertility, the path to parenthood could look unclear and cause them to try alternative options, such as egg donation. Finding the right egg donor can be a daunting and intimidating process. Whether you’ve already spoken to your fertility specialist or just begun your search for egg donors, you’re more than likely coming from a place of loss and confusion. However, at Fairfax EggBank, we want your frozen donor egg journey to be as simple and seamless as possible.

Read this step-by-step guide on how you can secure your egg donor and begin expanding your family.

Step 1: Creating Your Account

I know you are probably eager to see all the delightful faces on our egg donor database; however, before you decide to review our extensive egg donor selection, we highly recommend that you create an account. This will allow you full access to our database and note-and-saving features that you would not have otherwise.

Important Tip: To gain FULL access to our Egg Donor Database, you must create an account.

To begin, click the “Register/Sign In” button in the top right corner of the web page and register. You will be prompted to add in your name, email address, phone number, zip code as well as a few questions on how you found out about us. If you continue through your account, you can find our photo confidentiality waiver. Once you sign it, you will be able to view adult photos of our egg donors. After you complete this step, you will now have full access to our frequently updated database of our ethnically diverse, pre-screened, and FDA compliant donors.

Step 2: Finding Your Egg Donor

Now’s the exciting part! When scrolling through our egg donor database, we have many features that can aid in narrowing your search, so you can find your dream egg donor. In the top filter section, you can filter your choices by race, hair color, eye color, and more. As you click on an egg donor profile, you can find out more about that donor, for instance personality, physical attributes, and medical history.

Important Tip: The only information not available on the website is the quantity of the donor’s eggs and outcomes. Call our Client Relations Specialists to receive this information!

As you search and find egg donors that you are seriously considering, you can ‘favorite’ them, print, and add any private notes to that donor’s profile. This will save your top egg donors to your profile under the “My Favorites” tab, this will make finding them easier and more convenient. Once you narrow your top choices to 1-2 egg donors, we recommend calling or emailing our Client Relations Specialists to place a complementary two business day hold on a cohort. You can send your favorites to your Client Relations Specialist by using the “Email Your Favorites” located in the “My Favorites” Tab.

Brenda Amaya, Client Relations Manager

“We have new donors added to our website daily, so if you don’t find the donor you are looking for today, check back in regularly. Your perfect donor could be around the corner”

Step 3:  Securing a Hold

Now let’s secure your cohort! A cohort is a group of 6-8 mature eggs retrieved from an egg donor’s cycle and what you will purchase. Once you have found your perfect egg donor, call or email our Client Relations team to secure your cohort. All our egg donors and cohorts operate on a first come first serve basis, so once you find your dream egg donor do not hesitate to reach out to our team.

Important Tip: You can call, (888)-352-5577, or email, info@fairfaxeggbank.com, to place a hold on your dream cohort.

Following the phone call or email, you will receive a confirmation email along with important documents to begin the process. One of the main documents to keep an eye out for is our Terms of Use file. You will have two days to review, sign, and return the “Terms of Use,” otherwise your hold will be cancelled. Additionally, we will send paperwork to your fertility clinic to review and sign. This is the last step necessary to approve your egg donor selection to be shipped. This entire process should take no more than seven days to complete.

Lastly, within these seven days, you will need to finance your donor eggs. We have many financing options and will work with you and your IVF clinic to help you find the best option for you.

Important Tip: Find more information on how to finance donors eggs on our Blog and Intended Parent Resources Page.

Step 4: Receiving Your Donor Egg Cohort

Time to ship! After all the documentation has been completed and submitted, our team will begin the shipment process. We require at least 2 weeks’ notice to allow us to ship.

Important Tip: We only ship on Mondays and Tuesdays to avoid any risk of shipment delays over the weekend. *May change for international parents*

Once we receive notice from you, we contact your IVF clinic to confirm they are ready for the donor eggs to be shipped. This typically happens a week before the shipment. We will never ship donor eggs if it has not been explicitly approved and confirmed by the clinic. Once the donor eggs are shipped, they are shipped priority overnight. From there, you can coordinate with your clinic about starting your cycle!

We hope your journey to parenthood is nothing short of magical and we understand there may be some bumps along the way. By following our steps, your donor egg experience should be seamless and straightforward. We wish you the best with your donor eggs and look forward to hearing about all outcomes.
